One of the biggest mistakes that I have witnessed when people try to adopt SAFe into their organisation is that they just copy it as a set of practices without understanding the mindset and principles that underpin SAFe. The result is that it is typically a copy and paste from one organisation to the other, or from one team to the other without understanding the principles. In my experience when teams or organisations adopt SAFe in this way, they do not get the success that they expect.
So in order to avoid this from happening, my advice is to:
🚀 Identify your Value Stream(s).
🚀 Participate in SAFe in training.
🚀 Appoint a guide to help your team/organisation in the early stages of SAFe implementation.
When you first start using SAFe, it will be difficult and so when making these transitions I always recommend appointing someone that is experienced and skilled in the framework already; to guide, coach, and facilitate positive change.
